In compliance with the Illinois Department of Insurance’s Company Bulletin 2017-03, Continental Western Group (“CWG”) has implemented the following safeguards for our Illinois customers that are either located in or have insured property in the recently declared state disaster areas of Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties. The following safeguards are intended to address the problems you may face that are beyond your control relating to the significant flooding in your area:

  1. Withdrawal of certain cancellations and nonrenewals

If you receive a policy cancellation or nonrenewal notice from CWG on or after July 12, 2017, we will withdraw the cancellation or nonrenewal and reinstate the policy with no lapse in coverage upon notification from the entitled policyholder. In addition, CWG will not issue any new cancellation or nonrenewal notices to affected policyholders or for affected property until September 30, 2017, or a later time if deemed reasonable given the circumstances.

  1. Other insurance-related time-period extensions

If you are under a time limit to perform any act in relation to your coverage with CWG, we will extend the required response period for a minimum of 60 days from the last date allowed or required under the terms of your policy. This includes the submission of a claim or proof of loss, reporting of information, submission of bills, or payment of funds.

  1. Time-period extension for repairs

In the event repairs on affected property cannot be completed within the time period required under any CWG policy, or within the 90-day time period for repairs prior to termination due to the condition of the property, we will provide you with an extension of 60 days to make such repairs.

We appreciate your business and are committed to providing you with the service and coverage you need while you focus on getting back to business as usual. You’ll find our contact information here and under “Contact CWG.”
