Motivation: The Catalyst for Building Successful Leadership

We’ve all heard people say that motivation is key to success. Is that wrong? Not necessarily. Likely, motivation does not complete the picture of your team’s journey to success, but it is a great catalyst.

Motivation is a key factor to becoming successful, but teamwork, resiliency, and commitment to taking steps toward meaningful personal and professional development will make a world of difference in the long run.

Leaders are in a unique position to demonstrate success through commitment and dedication. When someone leads by example, others take note and think about what becoming a confident leader in their own way will look like as they advance their careers, whatever field that may be in.

Learning and Motivation Go Hand-In-Hand

Be passionate about building strong teams and developing future industry leaders. One of our greatest motivations is to connect with each member of the team so that we can learn how to best coach, motivate, and develop their skills. Leaders can’t forget to be learners, too.

Coaching your team members appeals to their ability to learn. Motivating your team with development opportunities puts the ball in each person’s court to apply their knowledge and skills. They can then instinctually develop strong relationships with clients and seek creative, inspired solutions to the successes and challenges they face every day. Give your team the chance to take ownership over their roles and find strength in the confidence they build. You’ll be amazed by what you witness.

Even though instincts can’t be taught, they can be developed through attentiveness and observation of efficient teams and leaders. Especially in times of crisis, people look to leaders to watch their motivations, methods, and results. Leaders have to be strategic and diligent in how they model strong, personal, and goal-oriented motivation for the leaders of tomorrow.

Successful Motivation

If you’re reading this, you’re already on your way to becoming a well-rounded leader. You are familiar with the type of collaboration that your team members, friends, and colleagues can draw experience from no matter where they are or what responsibilities they hold. How empowering is that, for everyone involved? Use that energy as a force for good and you will find that synergy creates organic motivation within your company. A solid foundation in collaboration with others will prepare you immensely for any leadership role you choose to pursue.

Embodying good leadership requires thought of others first and possession of self-awareness. You must recognize that yours are not the only ideas in the room (or on the Zoom call). Building a winning team requires the ability to accept and consider input from others to make the best and most well-educated decisions for the greater good of your team and your company. Having a team-first focus gives you the mindset that even in the most difficult of situations, you can depend on the amazing team you have put together and trust that they will Find Greater for you and your organization.
